Ellendale strongly believes in the arts’ contribution to economic development. Our Ellendale Area Arts Council has joined the efforts of the economic development and tourism office, the public school, Trinity Bible College and NDSU extension to get Ellendale moving in this direction. All of these groups recognize the value of encouraging art development in our area and to share our works with anyone who visits one of our many events. We invite artists to visit Ellendale and share your works with us.

Memorial items may be placed on graves 1 week before Memorial Day and must be removed 2 weeks after Memorial Day. The items that have not been removed by that date will be removed and disposed of by the City. Pots with real plants should also be removed 2 weeks after Memorial Day.
Cemetery lots may be purchased for $1,000 per lot which contains 2 graves. This cost includes the maintenance fee. A $250 maintenance fee will be charged to those people who owned a cemetery plot prior to October 1, 2010. A $50 monument fee will be charged for any monument erected after October 1, 2010.
Existing graves where soil has settled will be filled in by cemetery caretaker. Planting grass is the responsibility of the family of the deceased.
Real plants should not be planted as there is a danger of them being mowed off during summer cemetery maintenance. No new trees or shrubs should be planted.
Ashes may be spread anywhere. If burial of the ashes is desired no vault or urn is required. A plastic box may be used or ashes may be placed directly into an 18 inch deep hole. The City needs to mark the location before digging takes place. The family or funeral director may dig the hole. The City charges a fee of $75 for this service. The $250 maintenance fee still applies. You may contact the City Auditor’s office – 701-349-3252 or e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
